Among the cultural events in this land of ours, a significant, although local, space is reserved to the activity performed by the Banda Musicale Fubinese.
In the second half of the 19th century there were two wind band formations which probably were related to two opposing political camps. The official wind band of the commune, founded in 1885, maybe represented the agricultural, Catholic-oriented bourgeoisie (called "la pesanta"); the other one the industrial, secular-oriented bourgeoisie (called "la ligera").
In the twenties the wind band of Fubine was conducted by director Mario Testa, who together with elementary teacher and poet Ernesto Rossi composed the Canson 'd Fibinni, the "hymn" song of Fubine Monferrato.
The musical activity stopped on the Second World War, resumed for a while in 1945 under the conduction of Vincenzo Morbelli, and then stopped until the foundation of the current formation.
The current formation, named "Banda Musicale Fubinese", was constituted into an association with its own statute in 1988, under the conduction of director Gianfranco Soldo, thanks to the coordination of our untiring, precious president Vittorio Spano and the collaboration among some citizens from Fubine lovers of music, components of the old wind band and young volunteers, and with the help of the contribution by the Piedmont Region for the music orientation course.
Since its constitution, the activities of the wind band have been growing, with the purpose of spreading the music culture and retrieving the historical heritage of classical, but especially popular, texts and pieces of music which still form part of our people's cultural heritage, and a lot of music orientation courses have been organized, some of them organized and managed by the executive board of the wind band, other ones with the contribution by the Piedmont Region, aimed at giving the possibility to learn music and therefore play one of the several instruments of our wind band to who would have liked to do this.
In July 1998, in order to celebrate our tenth foundation anniversary, we organized an interregional gathering of musical wind bands, with a parade all around the village and a final concert, which the Corpo Filarmonico di San Mauro Torinese with director Maurizio Mallen, the Corpo Musicale Romualdo Marenco from Novi Ligure with director Andrea Oddone, and the Corpo Musicale "L. Manara" from Antegnate with director Emilio Moleri took part in. This meeting opportunity, moreover much felt not only by us "in the trade", but also by the people from our village and other participating villages, which followed numerous their wind bands, gave an even wider sense with respect to the initial goal of comparison and meeting among "insiders", and proved to be a further enrichment for everybody.
On July 4th 2014 we organized an evening of music in Fubine in memory of our friend Antonio Mortara passed away suddenly.
Every year, as is tradition, we meet towards the end of the year organizing a lunch or a dinner to celebrate Saint Cecilia, the patroness of musicians.
